Lawn grass fertilization with organic products in USA, requirements, timings, and implementation in various seasons

The basic mistakes that people do during fertilization in the lawn are related to their timings, selection of fertilizers, and over or fewer doses of it.

These three things are basic factors that decided the overall growth of the lawn grass people take these lightly and then complain and make the wrong decision about many things.

Here, we discussed all the above problems people face and the right solutions for them.

Lawn grass fertilization in the USA

Lawn grass fertilization is a neither simple nor difficult task to do. You can DIY it by following the proper steps and strategies.
Lawn grass fertilization in USA
Let's understand them each one by one by starting with soil testing-

Soil testing before fertilization

Sometimes people don't get results even after using quality fertilizers in their lawns and gardens. Without making any certainty and understanding, using random quality fertilizers is quite a naive step.

So first step before selecting and starting the fertilization process, you better should examine the soil. You can choose your nearest lab for soil testing just to check the current nature and components of the soil. An unwanted acidic or alkaline soil can be balanced according to the lawn grass need.

It is very difficult to make a soil test by DIY methods precisely.

Various stages of fertilization of lawn grass

Instead of using fertilizers directly, we should wait for suitable timings and stages. Following are various stages when fertilization gives the best results-

  • Before sowing grass seeds

The best season for sowing most of the grass seeds in lawns is the spring season.

During soil preparation for grass seeds, it is the stage to use fertilizers for the first time. The quality, components, and quantity are decided later according to the soil testing.

You should not use intense fertilizers during this period.

  • After germination to transplantation

After germination, grass takes some time to get its roots stronger. It can take up to 60 days to get much stronger roots.

When you find grass growth enough for transplantation, you can use fertilizers in new soil where you are doing to transplant the grass.

  • Turf fertilization

After germination and transplantation, you follow the summer season. This is the third stage of fertilization where you keep it regular. Every 30 to 40 days(according to the variety and requirements), you should fertilize your lawn during summer.

It is not full-scale fertilization but a reduced amount of fertilizers. We use fertilizers just to maintain the growth with other care and maintenance like irrigation and sunlight access.

  • Fertilization just before winter

This is the fourth stage of fertilization where you wait for the passing winter for the next fertilization.

Autumn is the last season when you should fertilize your lawn to keep it maintained during winter. You should not use intense fertilizers in autumn. You can choose the right time if you find grass still growing in autumn.

Before starting fertilization

Before starting fertilization in any season, you should practice some other processes to increase the impact of fertilizers and reduce the percentage of negative growth of lawn grass.

Either you can ask for the professional help from local companies for preparation or you can just do it yourself.

Following are some basic methods to follow before fertilization-

  • Aeration

Aeration of lawns before fertilization opens the holes for extra absorption of compost and water in the soil. It also releases soil stress and provides a good condition to the soil for further process.

  • Pre-emergent, post-emergent, and weeding

Weed management is very important to increase the growth of lawn grass. Weeds like quackgrass, crabgrass, and Clover slow down the growth of entire turf grass. Also, weeds give an ugly look to the lawn in winter as they are dormant fast and make brown spots on the lawn grass.

Pre-emergent applies during initial soil preparation for sowing grass seeds. It makes a barrier to stopping and slowing down the growth of weeds. Pre-emergent herbicides work well to stop weeds in the initial stages.

Post-emergent herbicides use to kill weeds by spraying. It kills almost every type of weed that appears on the lawn grass.

It is always best to use fertilizers a few days after the pre and post-emergent when these herbicides get neutralized.

Weeding the lawn help during fertilization as it breaks the barrier of weeds. So, grass can absorb fertilizers first if you remove all the weeds.

  • Sunlight and shadow

Check the access period of direct sunlight on the lawn. If your lawn remains in shadow or dark for a long time, no fertilizer can improve the growth of lawn grass.

Most of the native lawn grasses don't hesitate to receive direct sunlight for up to 5 hours, light sunlight for 2 hours included, and 2 hours of shadow during sunlight.

Requirements for lawn fertilization

Following are some basic requirements for fertilization in the lawn-

Fertilizers

The most important thing while selecting good fertilizer is that you should choose it according to the grass requirements and soil health.

Either you can use organic waste compost, cow manure, vermicompost (100% decomposed), or other organic market fertilizers for lawn grass. Following are some basic organic fertilizers for lawn grass-

  • The Andersons 7-1-2 Innova Premium Organic

  • Urban Farm Fertilizers Liquid Lawn Fertilizer
  • Organic Lawn Booster Fertilizer(No phosphorus)
  • Jonathan Green & Sons Organic Lawn Food
  • Scotts Natural Lawn Food

Tools required

You need some proper tools to prepare soil and lawn before fertilization. The following tools are required before fertilization and also for lawn care and treatment-

  • Mowing machine or manual mowing tool
  • Aerator tool(metal sharp)
  • Weeder(long handle)
  • Long handle scratching reck
  • Plastic reck for waste collection

Is organic compost good for the better growth of lawn turf?

Well, it is slightly difficult to sum it up in a sentence. Organic compost timings, quality, and components are some major factors to call it good or better for lawn turf in comparison to other non-organic market fertilizers. Compost gives slow but effective results and though it is not very helpful in winter to prevent dormant grass.

If you manage weeds then compost can be more effective if used at proper timings. It can improve soil health and make it more comfortable for future purposes.

Some people don't satisfy with slow results. That's why they avoid using compost or other organic fertilizers. When such fertilizers don't help them, they use weed removal which can affect the overall lawn grass health badly. In lack of knowledge, it can be harmful to animals and humans to walk on.

Although accurate use of such fertilizers and weed removals can be effective but continuous use of these products make lawn soil a habit of treatment. With this method, the soil doesn't improve its immunity and natural fertility.

One precious advantage of using compost on the lawn is that it doesn't have any side effects.

Precision farming, components, working technology, advantages and disadvantages, scope in rural India

Every year, millions of liters of water, tonnes of fertilizers, and pesticides use in agriculture. Every farmer knows the approximate figure for using the amount of these. But practically, people use an unnecessary amount of the components of agriculture. This is not good for sustainable agriculture.  Precision farming helps to overcome the problem and reduce the wastage of water, fertilizers, and pesticides and save money and time. Let's discuss how it works. Precision farming and technology  Let's start from starting. Let's understand the working of precision farming and then move on to the technology use in precision farming.  What is precision farming? Onion farming yield per hectare, investment, and profit per hectare

In countries like India, there are several reasons of vary in onion prices. Before mentioning those reasons, let's understand the basic principle of it. Onion farming profit depends on quality of  onions, yield, and the demand of onions in market. If onion is enough in market then profit will be little lesser and vice versa. In India, every year hundreds of quintals of onions waste because of storage and management lack.    To understand the onion yield in a hectare land, first you have to understand structure and project of cultivation.  Onion farming yield per hectare In 1 Hectare(10000 square meters) agriculture land, produced onions yield most of the time varies. This number can't be certain all the time but there is a range between 100 to 120 quintals/hectare/yield.   Let's understand how this number can calculate or report direct from the cultivation side.  Configuration of onion plants Line to line, plant distance must be near 25 to 30 cm, plant to plant distance mus
